what happens if...

Default what happens if...

i forget to put the kick stand up a few times and just put it in 1st gear. what damage will it cause?
( i mean the clutch is still pulled in) will it take out any clutch material?

no, there is a sensor that doesn't allow the bike in gear with it down
it cuts off the electronics the same way that the kill switch on the right handle bar does

no issues.
If you keep doing it over and over just for fun though, your battery will drain due to starting the bike over and over without letting it charge.

well i mean the bike is started and i put it in 1st without the kick stand up, so...same thing? thanks.

There will be no damage to your clutch/transmission/engine etc. Like AMPFP said, the only thing that might happen is that your battery will drain from starting the bike without letting the alternator charge the battery. It will also put more wear and tear on the starter since you're using it more often.

For some reason, I get the feeling that the bike allows you to be in gear with the kickstand down, and if that's the case, your sensor is malfunctionning, but regardless of that, no real damage can be caused!
