Default What a fool I am!!!

I somehow managed to scratch up the plastic lens on my tach (I'm not sure how, but I think wiping it with my gloved finger while riding didn't help!).

Any suggestions?

Is the lens available asa seperate part, or do I have to replace the entire case, or worse yet the circuit board too!

How hard is it to remove the instrument cluster?

Can the scratches be polished out of the plastic?

Any help would be appreciated.

Look for a honda parts dealer on the internet and use their parts finder to pull up a schematic. The picture should tell you if the lens is sold seperately.

What about getting some Meguires plastex, or simular product, theres a few out there for plastic scratches. Id try one of those products before id replace the screen etc.

That's a great idea. Do these products actually work? Is there a downside?

It's not really scratched. You can't feel any irregularity. It's just opacified the lens.

Does anyone know for sure if the tack cover is plastic or glass?

if it were glass you couldn't smudge it that easily and anything stuck to it could be scraped off with a razor blade

Does the polish in Meguiars scratch x cause glare? I need to be able to see the tach.

I've had good luck with clear plastic headlight covers, PlastX and PowerBall Mini. If you're going to replace it anyway, might as well try some things on it first.
