are you pointing to the ecu? it has two large connectors on it. i can vaguely see part of a part number on it that appears to be factory honda format. if you post that number, i can look it up.

The fourth picture from the left is looking at the connectors for the ECU, so if that is what you are talking about then yes it is a factory part, your bike will not run without it!

At first I thought he was pointing out the black and red braided rope?

But yeah it looks like the ECU. Although my 2003 ECU lives on top of the battery not behind it.

Have to admit, it does look like its being held up by the rope, looks very close to the shock in one pic.

Maybe worth checking the correct fitment location?

Put the battery in first, then the battery cover, then the ECU goes on top of that. I just had all that out a couple hours ago.

Something is not right (or not stock, at least). There shouldn't be something that close to the shock, and your ECU should be on top of the battery. I can also see two aftermarket black plugs in the photo of the top of the battery, not to mention an accessory wire running off the battery.

Ok with some elbow grease and patience i got the ecu to it original position but it is just kind of siting on top of the battery. And yes there is some additional wiring. I have a tenderer, heated grips, hid kit. The previous owner had some sort of switch hooked up that has three positions that is located near the seat that does nothing. With additional cluster of unconnected wiring. (any ideas on what that could possibly be?)
