What does your battery area look like?
Because mine doesn't look right. Whenever I put the seat in there is some force needed, and the seat sits on what I would assume is the computer. This just doesn't feel or look right. What does your look like? Pictures or suggestion are more then welcome.

Your battery is angled - it should be straight up and down. Doesn't look like an OEM-style battery meant for the F4i.
The black box is the ECU, and it should be flipped from how it is and on top of the battery. My bike is put away for the winter and it's cold as hell in Wisconsin, otherwise I would try to go take a photo for you.

Yes, what Aken said, your battery isn't in the whole way. It should flat on the bottom of the battery tray and the ecu should flip over and sit on top of the battery. I'm pretty sure that there is also a plastic flap that should sit between them as well. if that is as far in as the battery will go, you may have a wrong battery for the bike or you battery tray may not be the correct one (like someone modified it)...your picture makes it look like the battery is wedged diagonally on the battery pocket.
If I am remembering correctly, the cables don't have too much play in them, so to get the battery to be able to drop into the battery pocket, you may need to disconnect the cables, drop the battery into the pocket and reconnect the cables. once the battery is in place and the ecu is in it's location on top of the battery, the seat should easily slide into place. don't "force" the seat on, as that could lead to failure(s).
