Question What chain should I get for my F4i?

I need a new drive chain for my 2001 CBR600F4i and I've never bought a drive chain before so I want to make sure I get the right part. The manual says to use DID525HV-108LE or RKGB525ROZ1-108LE. Im guessing DID and RKGB are the brands, 525 is the size of the links and 108LE is 108 links. I'm not sure though so I could use some help on that.
So what exactly do I need and what brands would you recommend?
Thanks

I dont want to have to buy a new chain for a while so I'm getting a DID 525 ZVM-X for my F3 this week. Highly recommend the X-ring series from DID. I've had a really good run in the past with them on my motocross bikes even with a lot of chain chewing mud riding. Got a really good price cause I'm doing a favour for the dude that owns the shop. No, not the type of favour all you dirty minded people are thinking.

You wanna get a new chain and sprockets, if you're putting it on yourself you should get a chain rivet tool to rivet the master link. RK part #1062-010W is a chain and sprocket kit w/ the OEM gearing of 16 and 46, it's what I plan to get when I need a new chain although I'm not quite there yet at 17k on the factory chain. You should be able to find it for about $160 online. I got my chain tool already from here Tusk Chain Riveting Tool | ATV | Rocky Mountain ATV/MC they also have the motion pro, it's just a little more pricey.

Correct...D.I.D & RK are Honda oem chain suppliers. Size 525 & 108 links are stock size. (D.I.D & RK are my go-to chains.)

Its a good idea to change your sprockets when you change your chain, as worn sprockets will prematurely wear a new chain...& also create a possible unsafe situation.

While you can buy your chain & sprockets a la carte, you'll get much better prices by buying a package deal. RK chains used to offer a discount to CBRF members on packages, & still might. Many of us here use Sprocket Center. I recommend them as well. They have good prices on quality kits.

Changing your own sprockets & chain isn't rocket-science. You can do it & save yourself a nice chunk of change. All you need is a good quality rear stand, some basic hand tools, & a chain-tool kit. I use the Stockton Tool Company Chain Breaker & Rivet Tool Kit, purchased from CycleGear. We have a really good tutorial here for you to refer to & it will walk you thru the steps...https://cbrforum.com/forum/how-mecha...et-swap-97641/

Good luck.

all you need is a hammer and a punch to install the master link... No need of the special tool..

I suggest RK's high tensile strength chain. Just as good as DID and about 2/3rds the price.

I'm gonna go ahead and get the sprockets with the chain as suggested. Thinking about getting the RK 520 conversion kit for $160 but not sure if it would be better to stick with the stock 525 size. Thanks everyone

I'm gonna stick w/ the 525 on mine since it's lasted so good even after the previous owner neglected it. I don't think it really makes much of a difference though.

EDIT: I ordered the stock replacement RK chain and sprocket kit here for $154 https://www.denniskirk.com/800001.sk...utm_medium=cse, looks like I got the last one in stock but they should have more soon if you're not in a hurry. All the 520 kits from RK are down 1 tooth on the front sprocket, so you want to take that into account if you get one of those. Here is their page w/ their kits for honda's http://www.rkexcelamerica.com/street_rk_honda_kits.html.

Seeing as we have disk brakes there is no such thing as red brake shoes. Maybe for a truck with drum brakes but not for motorcycles....
