Default What chain should i get????

Ok i have my sprockets (-1,+2) but i still need to get a chain. I hear 525 is good but i dont know whatthat means or what i should go with please help. Also i do some long interstate trips like 200 miles i know my gas milage is going to go up so what do you guys think is it worth it?? Also i hear most people are pretty happy with this mod so i think i will be too, becuse i have only gone up to 145 and that is fast as sizit and i really dont need to go that fast so i really dont mind losing some top end.

The stock chain for and f4i is a 525. That number has to do with the width and strength. the larger the number the more strength it has and the wider essentially. if you go down to a 520 the chain will be lighter but in turn it will be less strong as the 525 and vice versa. thats why liter bikes come with 530 stock chains.

you could do a 520 conversion but it looks like you already bought your sprockets.

sprocket size has to match that number on the chain. sprockets that are 525 will not go with a 520 chain. etc...

with a -1 +2 your gas milage will go DOWN. not up. i still think it is worth it. if not you can always keep you old sprockets and put them back on. going down 1 in the front is like 3 up in the back. sooooo if you wanted to and want gas milage back leave the rear and put the front back on or the other way around.

i have this on my 02. i love it. the acceleration is a lot better and it puts me into the back of the seat. on the highway i can cruise in 6th and the rpm's are just about perfect. going fast is a lot of fun but for everyday use and riding around town i treasure quickness. oh and by the way you can still get up to 145!!

i really didnt answer you question. Rk is the brand i have. DID is also a very good chain. see that the stock length is and make sure you get a long enough chain so it accomodates the sprocket size change. you might want to get a speedo healer as well.

What he said, make sure your chain matches your sprockets, if you got 520 sprockets get a 520 chain, if you got 525 sprockets get a 525 chain. You need about what 108-112 link or something like that....I just bought an RK 520XSO 114 link chain, cut it down to fit and installed her....supposed to have a 20k mile warrenty.....was $65 at CycleGear in Allentown, that had a sale which brought it down to about internet pricing.....

they should have said when bought then. ive heard little about driven sprockets. nothing bad though. where did you u buy them from? there should be etchings on the sprocket that tell you what kind of sprocket it is. i know on my vortex sprockets they are etched on the side. do you see that number?

ya you can keep the stock chain if you want. i personally wouldnt though. the old chain might not be long enough to compensate the change in diameters of the sprockets.

its also never a good idea to use a new chain with old sprockets, or and old chain with new sprockets. the component that is worn will cause the new parts to wear faster than normal. if youre looking for a new chain, i would check out www.sprocketcenter.com. many people have bought from there (including me) and they are a great place to deal with.

I am a fan of the DID X-ring chains, gold in particular. 520 VM2 is what I have on both bikes.
