Ok so I have bought a 04 f4i and it is due for a chain. The sprockets are rear +2 front -1 with a 520 chain.

If I go 520 chain what manufacturer do you suggest, Also how many links should the chain be?

I have yet to ride the bike as there is a foot of snow outside my house but i am wondering if for daily cruising too and from school would it be better to go back to stock chain and sprocket?

 

I still use the stock chain and gearing but I know a lot of people buy the rk gold and DID chains. Im probably gonna go with one of those when i change mine soon.

 

It depends how far is school and you looking for milage over what you got now. Summer i get right around 40-45mpg and that is stock. I would go back to the 525 chain. Last way longer. Wether you change sprockets or not.

 

So I can run a 525 chain on -1 front sprocket and +2 rear? And my ride to school is about 15-20 miles away

For F4i 01-06:
525 chain is stock
108 = stock chain length
16/46 = stock sprocket sizes

I was considering regearing it, maybe just dropping down 1 in the front. Can I still use the stock chain/length?

 

Sorry to change the subject, but what does regearing do? Acceleration <------------> top speed type of thing?
