weird sound at 5k rpm's
When im around 5-5.5k rpm my bike makes a weird rattle sounds from the engine, It sounds like the CCT is going bad but the previous owner said he replaced it but idk if I believe him now. Could it just be the cam chain or something else or what do you guys think? It doesnt make the noise below that rpm or above it but it's like right at the rpm that I like to cruise at normally
and the bike has 38k miles to

Prop up the fuel tank and look at the "new" cctl tucked behind the frame. does it look new? even so IceCold is probably right. Get the APE Manual one for 40$ and be done with the buzz/rattle/screech for good.
I dont know how long its been since it was replaced, I'll take a look at it later on when it cools off some. He said he put a factory one on there when he did so I was going to replace it anyway.
Im currently off my bike due to the same problem. I really advice you to get an APE Manual tensioner. and get it installed ASAP. I have to wait until thursday to get my cct chain and tensioner replaced. rattling to much.
i put my replace my cct with an oem one and it started chattering after 1k miles. guess when i get the money ill swap it w/ an ape. pisses me off honda would make such a ****ty part. i thought it was a pretty big PIA to change..
Unknown are you saying your replaing the chain itself?? they almost never go bad unless there was serious abuse.
There is the cam chain tensioner #3 and the cam chain tensioner lifter #4. The only way to damage the tensioner or chain is if you drastically over-tighten or loosen a manual cctl. I've never heard of a buzzing stock cctl causing damage. The buzzing is annoying but not damaging. Also the cct an the cctl can both be easily changed by yourself (with the proper tools). You can get the to cct (#3) by removing the clutch housing and sliging it out the bottom. The chain is another story.
