Warming up bike,,, Temp?

RE: Warming up bike,,, Temp?
i let mine get to about 115 or so then start riding her. my brother use to be on a Formula SAE team at U of A (they build f1-like race cars, just a lot smaller and slower) and they would always power them with bike engines. most of the stupid kids on his team would just fire up the car and start driving the crap out of it. needless to say, they went through engines pretty fast, and its all because they didnt warm them up. so its definitely worth the few minutes of waiting to save your engine!

I'm kinda **** about it. I turn the key to the on position and let the diagnostics runthru its cycle, and when everything zeros out, I start the bike. I don't start riding until the fast idle settles down to normal idle. On my bike this normally happens at 121 degrees. Then I ride and take it easy for a little bit before getting on it.

same here...fire her up, wait until the e-choke is done...then take off...but even that's not necessary. just need to let the oil work its way through the motor then ride off slowly.
prolonged idling = fuel in oil = bad for oil = more frequent oil changes.
congrats to DAKINE! i hooked him up with my extra set of F4i wheels with front rotors yesterday with unbeatable price! i'm sure he'll be a happy camper!
