Vortex Sliders technical advice
Well, I'm finally putting my Vortex sliders on my '05 F4i. My question is this:
The service manual refers to
1] "center hanger adjusting bolt"
2] "center hanger adjusting bolt lock nut"
3] "center hanger bolt" (I assume this is the engine bolt referred to in the guides)
When I remove the center hanger bolt, do I leave the adjusting bolt lock nut where it is? Do I then just put the Vortex aluminum spool up against the adjusting bolt lock nut and tighten it down with the new hanger bolts which came with the Sliders?
I'm hoping that I don't have to monkey around with the adjusting bolt lock nut or the adjusting bolt, because it requires a special "lock nut wrench" and it sounds a bit complicated!!!!
Thanx for the help
amnesia

yeah just pull out the bolt, dont mess with locknut, or anything, just pull out the center bolt. and only do 1 side at a time, dont pull both hanger bolts out at the same time
Hey Krash;
Thanks for the reply!
When I took out the center bolt, it almost looks like the adjusting bolt locking nut around it might have turned a few degrees (in the loose direction). Do I need to re-torque it, or just torque the center bolt back in?
These engine mounts are a bit more complicated than I had anticipated!!!!!

I know it's been awhile, but I don't remember going through anything like what you're describing. I just had to make sure to remove the correct mounting bolts. One is longer than the other. No lock nuts or anything. I'm sure there's a photo somewhere to show which bolts to remove.
A few degrees? I wouldnt worry about it too much if its still tight, but if you can get it to turn, turn it a little.
worst case is your engine will fall out while your riding down the road haha
