Default Valve Adjustment Question

I took my 2002 F4i apart the other day to take the measurements for a valve adjustment and all of the exhaust valves were within service limits but the intake valves clearance has become more narrow somehow and I don't know exactly what this means. I do not understand how this could get more narrow. Do I just need to buy narrower shims or is something else wrong?

Thanks

yes valves can get looser (wear) and they can get tighter (seat recession). usually on the looser side though.

make sure you are measuring correctly and once you are positive, then swap out the shim for a smaller one so you get more clearance.

it's actually 2 different types of sounds. once you hear both often you should be able to distinguish the difference.

Yeah the Cam Chain Tensioner Lifter (CCTL) usually only makes noise in the 5,000-6,000 RPM range and that's it

SO you'll definitely know when it's one OR the other
