Ok - I re-read...

You posted a pic of someone elses bike - face/palm.

Ya - if you have that box, you have a speedohealer... and by the sounds of it then you only need to tweak the settings, and not buy a speedohealer

yea that picture is from the write up stephens left a link to.
i was just wondering if, since the wire with the white clip is already ran to the back seat, all i have to do is buy the speedohealer and plug it into that clip, right?
i just wanted to make sure i didnt need to have the green clip to... which im assuming is just the remote wire

If you don't have that black box then you do need to buy a speedohealer. In that scenario, the previous owner must have unplugged the speedohealer cable, and reconnected the stock speedometer cables. Strange to have gone to that effort, but not taken the speedohealer cable as well.

You do not need that green clip - that's just an extra. It is handy if you want to recall your top speed without lifting the seat. When you program it, you can just use the button on the speedohealer itself... so the remote is of very little practical value.

i believe he just ran the cable because he was planning on getting a speedohealer and never got one.
he most likely just had the fairings or somethin off already and ran it while it was convenient.
he just lifted up my the back seat and said "this is the plug in for the speedohealer if you decide to get one"
but yea i figured that was just the remote wire

You are correct. That was the only time I have ever called and talked to him. I asked about the discount for being a member on the CBRf and he asked me my screenname. Then he gave me a discount (I think it was 10% off)

sweet thanks for tellin me that... every saved dollar helps, lol.

EDIT: ok, one more question (sorry guys) but the cable that is ran back on my bike already is exactly the same cable that is ran in that picture that i put a few posts back... so since it is already ran, doesit matter which version of speedohealer i get? or do all the (honda) versions of speedohealers accept the same cable?

You want the Honda I unit... I have a feeling that the unit is eactly the same, but that the cables connections are brand specific. No need to risk it - and you'll get a nice spare cable. Might be the reason behind the cable being left behind - the PO might have kept the unit and just brought the kawi/yammie/susie cable for their new bike.

Also - follow the cable down and see if it is plugged into anything. My guess is not... otherwise I'm not sure how you're speedometer would work at all (being disconnected)!
