Undertail Paint Help Please!!
Ok So I Got A Nice Undertail And I Havent Seen Any On Any Bikes So Far, But I Was Wondering I Have A Yellow 06 F4i And If I Should Take It To A Body Shop To Get Painted, Or Do It My Self...
So Far The Body Shops Estimated It At Around 300-500 Bucks...
100 Bucks At The Place I Used To Work Till I Quit But They Do Bad Jobs And They Screw Every One.
Or Should I Buy A Can Of Spray Paint From Home Dept. Or Something Thats A Really Close Color Shade And Do It My Self For Like 20 Bucks...
Hey Help Thanks.
Ima Located In Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada..
If You Know Any One Around The Area That Can Do It.
Thanks, And Cheers.

since its a undertail, it wouldnt hurt to do the cheapo way. I have seen some undertails where people have when with a color shade lighter than the bike, but you couldnt really tell. So, I say go for it.
Yeah I Was Thinking That Cuase I Have A Yellow Spray Thats 2-3 Shades Off But I Can Always Get Another One Or Order One In Just Wonder About Wear And Tare And If I Need To Sand The Undertail Or Not?...
Cheers,

If you paint it yourself, I recommend you sand it down to rough it up with some 180-200 and prime it first then sand the primer with some 500 grit and then wipe it clean and the paint it.
If its ABS you need to sand it for sure and buy primer specifically for ABS which is available at most parts stores.
Sand part first
Prime and go ahead and put on 2 to 3 coats of primer since it will help the color stick
sand that with 600
lay on color and finish with clear if you want
I sprayed some forks black last weekend and used duplicolor clearcoat made to seal wheels. I put a ton of coats on and they came out great
