Turn signals
Hey guys I bought an f4i that had no blinkers so I went and bought just two seperate light s at a part store and used a test light to find the turn signal wires but hooked it up and nothing happened my question is do I have to have another flasher for these type of lights
Nope...
1. Are you referring to front or rear blinkers?
2. Find you 3 wire coming from fuse box. Likely it's hiding near the signal housing area...look behind fairing.
3. Get a voltage tester...the green is ground, which goes to your newly purchased black wire....the solid color should be trigger, meaning when you press signal, it will flash...place you voltage tester needle touch each wire to find the trigger wire. Normally it is solid color like orange or blue...this trigger wire goes to your newly purchase blinker's red wire(or color)....
4. Do you hear your relay clicking when signaling? If yes, that's your oem relay, it only work with conventional filamen bulbs...if you go LED, your relay will flash super FAST....some don't like that so you must install a aftermarket relay.
At of current, you say nothing is working? Then use your voltage tester to see if there is any juice coming from wires?

what lights did you buy?
the green wire is a ground. the blue (orange for the other side) wires are running and signal. single filament bulbs (194 bulb #): one wire ground, the other signal. the glass/metal bulbs with the metal socket wont work unless you are able to ground the socket.

Addition: 3 wire from bike for signal.
1. Green is ground which connect to blinker's black
2. Solid color is trigger.
3. Solid color with stripes is running lights (park lights)usually for the front.

I bought some marker light s with just one wire which is the hot wire and you ground the light to something metal like the tag bracket but when I hook it up nothing happens just wondering if those lights will work
wont work unless you ground the housing to the green wire. get motorcycle ones. theyre cheap. motorcycle superstore, as well as everyone else, have them to bolt right on.
