Default trusting the tire.....

ok, im new to riding......4,500 miles of seat time. when i bought my bike it had Pilot Roads and i got pretty comfortable leaning it after a while. the chicken strips diminished and the tire began balding in the center. i trusted those tires in the turns. just today i had some PP's put on and was told to take it easy for the first 2hundred miles or so. now my question, i understand that there are natural oils and what not on the tire. but once i ride it for the first 2hundred miles or so, how do i know WHEN i can begin to lean'er back into the turns a bit harder? im nervous of the virgin tire slipping. i trusted the PR's. and i know the PP's are way better tires (or so i've heard).

so how do i know WHEN i can begin dipping the bike into turns more?

200 miles should be enough, but it's more about heating the tire than it is about mileage.

When I got a new set of PP on my bike (2CT on the back), I rode 10 miles to some roads in a new housing development. I heated the tires with some hard acceleration (back tire) and some hard straight-line braking (front tire) then I started riding laps - 20 laps using right turns, 20 laps using left turns (another5-6 miles, maybe).

Stopped the bike and took a look - scrubbed right down to the Michelin man's feet.

haha wow! yeah, i rode it maybe 45 miles today and noticed that the tire was visibly worn and i wasnt even really leaning it! but i'll tell you what......they DO heat up quick! when i got home and rode down my gravel driveway, i think i brought the driveway to the shed w/ me!!!! but i appreciate the reply. i know its a bit of a dumbass question, but its new to me.....this is my first time w/ fresh rubber on the bike and was worried that the tire needed to slowly be leaned to wear the tire. but thank you for the info!

lmao 200 miles good lord. I broke mine in, in like 2 miles not even. I've broken mine in and my friends on his. We both run PP's. I'd start a small weave, and dip into more and more and more. I'd do this until I got it to the edge, and then it's fully broken in. Just make sure you don't take a big first bite, just start out small.
