Default Trouble shifting to Neutral

Sometimes when I'm sitting at a stoplight in neutral, I'll downshift but it won't go in gear. It doesn't happen all the time but it's a pain in the butt when it does happen. No trouble with any other gear. I made a minor adjustment on the clutch lever but that didn't really do anything. Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance.

just about every bike i've ever ridden has to be "coaxed" from neutral to first sometimes, its just how the world goes round

It is suggested you keep it in first at a stop light (I do) so if you have to take evasive action you are able. Imagine if you saw some person barreling toward you in your rearview, and couldn't get it into first. Just a suggestion.

let the clutch ingage a bit *ie let it out a bit till you roll foward an inch* then it should shift fine after that

During my MSF course... this happened A LOT to me on the night hawks they got.

I'm on neutral, and I can't get into first. Trick is to rev it up a little and it'll go into first.

I also noticed it does this maybe once every 3 days or so, very few, but I just keep trying and it goes in.

I would rev it to switch to first, but I got a yosh exhaust, and I don't want people thinking I'm causing trouble by reving.
