Default Tire struck!

I'm trying to buy a 190 rear tire. Any suggestions. I want a tire that I can do a few burnouts and stick well so I can wheelie without skidding out. lol Basically what is a good rear tire to get. I also need it to pass inspection.

putting a bigger tire throws off the geometry of the bike ..it will handle worse ..not a good idea

You have a cotradition of statements for your need:

Sticky
Burnout

Go to Motorace.com, buy like, 5 rear Michelin Pilot Race S2 (SOFT) 180's and go nutz. $70 a tire
or
Get the H2 compound in a 170/60 (fits the 5.5" rim) for 10 bucks less. I've used the H2 150/60 and it's SOFT. i can't imagine what a Race soft feels like. $60/tire

At 70 bucks a tire, you can't go wrong. it's a DOT tire so it will pass inspection.

Talk to dave, he's an awesome guy!

What can i say? If you're into track days or competition, he's the guy you go to for tires. The cheapest i've seen besides him was well over twice the price.

$60 for a 170/60 (Hard)
or
$70 for a 180/55 (Soft)

Both fit a 5.5" Rim.

II may end up getting Two of each for Road America next time NESBA comes around.

Is getting a 190 really a bad idea?

I guess I was trying to find a balance between the two. Sticky is more important since I do more wheeling than anything.

if u wanna keep your handling ..stay with the stock size (180) i think ur asking if a 190 is better for doing wheelies..i have done them on both tires cause my old bike had a 190 and i dont really see a difference

Is there a problem going to 190? No, as long as the tire was designed for a 5.5" rim. But a 190 is going to be MONSTROUSLY more expensive than a 180 or 170.

No, who told you that? I have a 190 and my bike was lowered a bit. Everything is just fine. You probably wouldnt notice the difference in the handling after like 5 hours of road time.

I have dunlop 208 front and back. I cant say they are the greatest tires on the market, Im just telling your what works for me. Its a nice fat tire; like the one on 1000's.

For burnouts, why go with a 190? For a quicker burn you would got with a smaller tire. Less revs are needed for a smaller tire since the surface area is less.
