Tip Sensor?
I have an 01 F4i 20k miles and never had a problem with it till a month ago went to start it to go to work one morning and the dash showed my high beams being on which neither of the headlights were on, FI light wasn't on, fuel pump wouldn't prime, but it would crank over just fine, just wouldn't start. At this time i was in the sun in the AZ heat so i moved it to the shade to take a look at it and tried it again after moving it and it started right up.... This happened again over the weekend same symptoms so i moved it over to the shade in the parking lot i was in and it started right up... then again this morning except moving it didn't fix it this time i just let it sit for 20 min and it fired right up.... Im thinking its the tip sensor but not sure still new to motorcycles been working on cars my whole life and this one is beyond me... Anyone out there know if this is the issue or what could be the problem?? Any help is much appreciated thanks in advance.
have you tested the tip sensor, page 5-32 on the manual, and have you tried to bypass it? somewhere here there is a post about it, electrical gremlins are horrible.
almost so bad its tempting to buy a new wiring harness. with the ignition on the headlight should come on so you're right something in between is stopping it.

That was the first thing I thought but pressed the button and it turn over just fine just no fuel im pretty sure its the tip/bank sensor took it to my buddy that owns a shop and he said hes 90% sure its the sensor but because its so random when it happens theres no way to diagnose it completely so now.just gotta wait till it does it again and pull out the sensor and move it around and test it to be sure
Here's a thread that shows you how to splice the tip over sensor hope it helps
