Default throttle when starting

so i seem to be having a problem taking off in 1st gear. yes i am new to bikes but i tried out my buddies r6 (please forgive me f4i gods) and i had no problem with a smooth start. hours of practicing in parking lots and still dont seem to improve very much. is there an adjustment i can make to the throttle cable or something to that affect or do i just need an obscene amount of practice with my bike specifically. hopefully im not doomed to be that guy stalling at lights all the time.

Hard to say without a little more info on what you're doing now and what happens. Could be your technique. Could be too much play in the throttle. Could be your bike is idling too low. Could be something else entirely

Where does she idle when she's warm? Easy place to start.

she idles around 1100. as far as technique im sure im still clumsy but it seems like ill roll it and it doesnt seem to respond for im guessing a quarter inch of movement? then it just seems to open up....like theres no in between stop and go....i usually end up having to let out the clutch with no gas and once i start moving i can then give it gas. real annoying when people are behind you. if i do try to use the gas my rpms jump up pretty high (4-5k?) and the bike just wants to take off.

try lubing your cables, also take your airbox off and adjust them. that kind of play would be anoying. you could have one of the cables not hooked up correctly or broken.

Sounds mechanical and outside my depth. Haven't had that type of trouble. You might try adjusting the tension in the throttle cable. Get it to where you like it.

Keep your eyes open. Someone will prolly chime in with more soon

i let the bike rev up to about 3grand before i wanna start moving, and then just slowly let out the clutch. just look at the traffic lights going in the other direction as u, and when they turn yellow i start holding the throttle...its a bit tricky to get it to hold at 3grand, but ull get used to it with practice. thats my method anyway...im sure theres other opinions out there

Try readjusting your idle to 1,300, + or - 100. That's where the manual states it should be at. I know it's not much of a difference, but it might help.

Sounds like the idle, mine is really low and needs adjustment too, I'm going to do that soon.

Sounds to me like its your clutch cable that needs adjusted. You said you seem to let out the clutch until it suddenly goes all at once, that is your clutch. And 3 grand just to take off from a stoplight??? You shouldn't be over 2k RPM's to leave a light.
