You all have been very helpful, thanks a bunch. I do realize that sportbikes were not really meant for passengers and this will not be a touring bike. We have 3 little ones at home so 98% of the time it will just be me on the bike, but I'm sure there will be those times where the grandparents get the monsters and we can take a ride somewhere. Now all I need to decide is do I want an 01-03 or grab a newer one and drop the cheese for the conversion to a split seat...decisions, decisions.

itll be cheaper to just do that, i dont think the new ones r any better, just seat differences

I may be wrong but I thought honda detuned the f4i engines in 03.

1) get your wife hooked to bikes
2) teach your wife to ride (take abate course)
3) she will get her own bike

worked for me

#1 passanger slideing forward = control your slow downs
#2 passanger hang on = warn them. do something before acceration
#3 passenger comfort = let them know before heading out they do not need to be hunkered down behind you all the time. go ahead and sit up (unless i give you the warning)
