It's at 15 now close to 16. In the service manual it says you need to lubricate them at 8k and replace at 16k. I'm pretty sure this guy didn't take the time to lubricate them so I'm just gonna go ahead and replace them.

I assume you're talking about on a bike only, but yea I'm just about at 17k now and haven't noticed any decrease in performance. I got the bike w/ around 15k on it and haven't noticed anything dropping off sharply. Mileage is good (actually climbing steadily from tank to tank) and performance is more than adequate. What symptoms did you experience and at what mileage did they occur?

My FSM says inspect at 8k miles, he must have misread the I as a lower case L.

HAHAH what a fail! I did misread that, and I for the life of me could not figure out why you had to lube them. Ahhh early morning brain.

Indeed. I notice the fall off by 14,000 miles and it only gets worse as time goes on, they're changed by 16k at most for me. I notice harder starting and slower throttle response. Then again I've had 51,000 miles to get to really know my f4i

Cool, thanks for the heads up. I'll keep an eye on mine, how do your old plugs usually look when you pull them, has the gap opened up a bunch?

The thread really got me lurking for plugs as it's been on my To Do list for a while.

Found a set of 4 NGKs IMR9A-9H for $25 shipped on craigslist. WOOT!

Just had to rub it in for the guys paying $50 a set, deals are out there!

Used allofcraigs.com - Search ALL of Craigslist to search every craigslist city at once. But dont bother asking the guy in Raleigh, NC because they're SOLD!

It's a good thing to do. Makes the bike feel alive again!
