Talk about a weird question
This is something I never thought I'd end up posting about but....here goes!
Has anyone else noticed that a smell gets "stuck" in their nose after riding?
Lately I've been experiencing something liek this and I can't explain it any other way.
It's like after I ride I smell the same thing everywhere I go.
Part of me thinks I'm insane and part of me thinks there's dust and exhaust getting drawn into my nasal cavity.
Keep in mind, it's not that big of a deal and it's definitely not gonna keep me off the bike (rode to work today...gotta love highs of 71 in early february!) but I'm quite curious if this is a personal thing or something more far-reaching.
Thanks guys,

[align=left]Man, it follows you around for hours?
That sucks...I'd probably go insane if it were that smell haunting me.
It's more like a weird chemical burn type of thing...haha.
I don't even know how to explain it any better.
Maybe i'm just a kook.

haha no im just kiddin, well im not but i know what you mean. i used to get that when i would go into class. but i think it's because the odor would get trapped in the denim of my jeans, so i'd smell it all day long. kind of even more so like when you go ride a snowmobile and smell like 2 stroke lol.

Yup, like Tahoe says, it's your exhaust. It does get into your clothing. Some folks say that using a lower octane fuel helps to some degree (this is not meant to turn this thread into another octane discussion!!!). I don't care if I smell like exhaustbecause I like it. I enjoy pulling into the garage, which is attached to the living room, and letting the sweet smell waft into the house. Nobody else likes it in the house, though.

It's not your exhaust...
It's everyone elses exhaust shooting straight into your face the entire time you are in traffic, which is generally the entire time you're on your bike. It sucks and there isn't much you can do about smelling like it, but you don't have to smell it in your nose. They have carbon monoxide face masks that strap around your jaw and covers you mouth and nose and apparently reduces/elminates that crap from goiong straight into your lungs.
They make ones that are bandana-style, and others that are super similar to simple respirators. Heck, even a neoprene lower face, face mask would help. I wear a balaclava and let me tell you - after riding in traffic for an hour or so that thing has a smell to it that will male you vomit if you've been in it all day and didn't realize it.
That gas will jack you up and anyone that spends a good deal of time on a bike should seriously reconsider how many exhausts they're sucking on all day...
Cover your face up!
