Tag Lights

Hi guys, I still dont have any light on my license plate and want to wire some LEDs, does anyone know the easiest place to wire them into the taillight/running lights? Thanks!

Aken 06-03-2009 03:48 PM

It'd be easier to wire your own positive and negative wires from the battery.

Im not sure of your situation but why not wire from the original plate light that was on your fender?

my license plate goes right on the keyhole for the trunk. i had to drill a hole through for the keyhole. i was wondering how i can place a small light across the bottom of the taillight. Thanks.

i mean what product is there to stick under there.

Just drill a hole and stick an LED through it. It'll illuminate the plate at night. Mine is mega bright with just one LED.

You can see in this pic where the LED is making a white circular beam on my tire. The plate mounts in the path of that beam and it's lit (no pics with plate on).

Ya sorry should have mentioned I have a HotBodies undertail. pics in my album.

Aken, if I did that wouldnt it be on all the time? I really dont want to have to wire a switch.

yup! You will still have to drill a hole for the wires to go thru or find one that they will fit thru thats already drilled. Then connect them to the wire that is there for the tag light or just splice into the ones for the tail lights. I have connectors on all mine so its easier to disassemble for whatever reason.

Like Aken said, just run wires straight from the battery.

Although wouldn't that keep it on all the time?

Thats what I'm saying, unless you put a switch to interupt the circuit. What I would like to know is what color from the tail lights will give me power only when I turn the key?

off hand I dont remember the color of the wires. I think the signals are green and yellow. A easy way to determine what wire does what is get a test light n poke it into the wires n see exactly what what one does what. And yes straight to the battery will have it on all the time.

Either wire it in utilizing the oem plate light wires...or just tap into the tail light, so it's on when the key/bike's on...super easy...good luck

redzintimidator 06-04-2009 03:13 PM

mine are LEDS in the bolts...$12 from ebay, just run the wires up in and connect them to the stock tag light wires, or any other constant on power source and ground.
