I have a 2006 with a bad o2 sensor so my FI light flashes the error code all the time already and I filled up the other day before riding because my reserve gauge was on, I drove around 160 miles and my reserve light still hasn't came on yet... And I was revving the crap out of it all day

My bike gets about 150 per tank as well. But that's because when I'm just commuting or travelling instead of joyriding I ride very conservatively and usually switch gears according to the owner's manual for best fuel efficiency. I'm usually in sixth gear by 40mph. I'm rarely over 5k rpm riding in this manner.

I get less than 150 when I ride more aggressive and let the rpms really go.

Edit: I have a California spec 2001 f4i with the exhaust O2 sensor

That's just crazy.. maybe it's because you have the stock exhaust? But that just don't make sense....

Also the 110 miles per tank is just nuts!! But does make me feel a little better though...lol that sucks man!

I have been in contact with Danmmoto many times, (the aftermarket exhaust guy) and he said if the O2 sensor has a 330 Ohm resistor then the mapping should be good throughout the rev range.

If I shift like a Grandma, then I can get 130 miles per tank, and no matter how hard I ride I do not get less then 120 miles per tank...

My final option is to get a threaded nut and just weld the damn thing to the midpipe, and see if that brings me bak to that respectable 145 miles per tank before reserve...

i finally had to fill up because my reserve light came back on. i always fill up right when it comes on and it came on at the 185 mile mark on my trip meter but i had 20 on it the day before i filled up for my ride so i averaged out to about 45 miles to the gallon. and yes i do still have to stock exhaust on my bike

So we have finally come full circle fellas. After riding the bike for 3,000 miles without the O2 sensor and wasting i don't know how much money and milage I have FINALLY welded a bung to the dan moto exhaust and the O2 sensor has finally found it's home.

I haven't got a chance to ride 400 miles to see if the milage is back to normal, but I get no Fi light so I know the sensor is getting a good reading, and all is right with the world.

please report back with an update. my o2 sensor broke a year ago and i used the resistor trick to fool the ECU. i also get exactly 120 miles until reserve kicks in, no matter how hard i beat on it. before my o2 sensor broke, i used to get 150-160 miles before reserve.

i've been thinking real hard about buying another o2 sensor myself, so let me know if it helped your MPG's.

did your "welding a nut to the midpipe" keep your mileage at about 150 per tank??

I think I have to add the O2 sensor on again.. I ride too much to fill up after every 120 miles..
Hey City,

I don't recall off the top of my head what my mileage was with my stock exhaust vs my shorty. But I can tell you my mileage was about 36-40 MPG w/ just my slip-on, O2 sensor and stock gearing. After I added a PCIII, had my bike tuned, K&N air filter, Kleen air mod, O2 Sensor Eliminator, AMSOIL synthetic motor oil and stock gearing my mileage was about 41-44 MPG. Then after I added my SpeedoDRD and went with 15/46 gearing I'm now getting about 35-38 MPG.

Moses

Most definitely will report back. I want this thread to be for everyone that googles "Dan moto CBR f4i" LOL like i did for months.

Moses the PCIII is the reason your dang milage is good. I was trying not to spend the money and stick to stock Honda fueling. Luckily people without the O2 can also get a PCIII i'm figuring., but an ebay O2 sensor would be cheaper.

Here is a pic of the weld.. I was amazed to find a perfect chubacca face in the weld.

Meaning this exhaust should be a monster.

So I finally did it. Even though it was 37 degrees here on sunday I had to ride 150 miles to check if the milage was back to normal.

Meaning I had to go 70 miles in any direction and then turn around. LOL

froze my *** off but I went from Union NJ to Bear Mountain NY and BACK on one tank of gas.

Sight for sore eyes that 140 miles traveled on the odometer.
