Default Steering Stem

How big is the nut that is at the top of the triple tree? Is that the easiest way to tighten the steering stem?

I have the tool at home. I'll see if I can get the size for you. There's a post where I asked the same Q recently. If you get the search to work, find it under one of my posts.

I just want to tighten the bolt to see if that will eliminate the clunk noise when I brake. Not going to do anything major since I don't have the materials.

it's not just that bolt. once you remove it you'll see that there's another bolt that you need a "special" tool to remove or turn. i think a spanner wrench should work on that though. as far as the klunking, it may be time to change the head bearings.

I read that and other sites suggested tightening all the bolts on the clamps and stem first.

A spanner is British for wrench. The head nut is 30mm.

Thanks a bunch. That's what I thought a spanner wrench was but google said otherwise.
