Default Stator cover issues

I bought an '04 F4I that had a small oil leak that the previous owner claimed to be a gasket issue. I pulled the stator cover off today to discover this...

Yes, that's JB weld...

And that's what is left of the "ear".

Am I super screwed, or is there some way this can be fixed?

You could someone weld a solid piece of aluminium on there and tap it. It wouldnt be easy with out welding skills but doable. Find a good shop that welds aluminium and your set.

maybe some gasket sealant could patch that up? I had a similar encounter, but lucky for me, it was the cover that was damaged.

Those were my thoughts too. Take it to a good shop that welds aluminum. Either have them weld a glob of aluminum on and I'll finish it and polish it, or have them do it all themselves.

Anyone in the AZ area have recommendations?

It's an open area, so I'm hoping the shop will do it with the engine in the bike.

And thanks for the suggestions!

Funny you should ask...

No, but I drove the guy home after he brought the bike to my place, so I know where he lives. The thought of driving the bike through his front door certainly entered my mind.

The cover needs a bolt down there to seal properly unfortunately.
