Default Stator alternator cover

I let my friend ride my bike and he layed the bike down and it cracked the stator cover. Does anyone know how much it will cost to buy a stator cover and if it's easy to replace on your own? Also will i need to replace the alternator or anything? There's oil leaking through the crack of the stator cover also. Thanks a lot.[sm=smiley19.gif]

Well I just recently damaged my Alt. Cover as well and there is some oil leaking out of my cover as well. I spent all day today trying to track down a new cover. I never saw the price go over $60.00 I have a 2001 F4i and by what the Service Manuel shows, it looks really easy. Just unscrew the old one. Take the gasket off. Put a new gasket on and bolt it back on. Becareful because some oil will leak out, so make sure you fill it back up again before you ride it.

you can get the stator cover off ebay for about 60.00 and it comes with a new gasket, to remove it just unscrew the cover and pull it lut it will be hard to pull it out because it is a really strong magnet, then unbolt the stator from the cover rebolt it to the new stator cover reinstall it on the bike and refill with oil, start bike check for leaks, and your good to go

Excellent opportunity to do an oil change. Just make sure you get a new gasket. I've seen "pros" put new heads, covers, etc. on their engines, and don't put new gaskets on. Bad idea. Spend the extra $5 because it's worth it.
