might sound silly but when your cousin stalled did you have the kickstand down and it still in gear?

Things I would check (In this order).

Bank Angle Sensor - Reset
Fuses - Check (don't believe the bike will allow itself to start itself with a blown fan fuse)
Fuses - Try starting without the headlight fuse (seperate wiring harness problem. easy fix)
ECU - Dielectric grease/clean
Kickstand Switch (dielectric grease)

weird jolts like that will cause corroded connection pins to get disconnected. it's happened to me many times. buy some grease and lube up.
