Default Stand--Swingarm or Spools?

How many of you guys have put swingarm spools on your F4i? I just go my T-Rex stand in yesterday. (Great stand by the way.) I'm sure it would but better to have the spools but I'm not sure it I want to risk messing up my swingarm.

For those of you who have put them on, did you weld them on or drill and tap the hole?

Or, is it just as good to use the swingarm and forget the spools?

Thanks

if you do it...weld it...tapping it it may hit the exhaust or mid pipe when the rear suspension is compressed...

i just use the pads...never ever had an issue like so many people claim to have...and i have mediocre handy stands too.

I have a pit bull stand and I just use the pads. Never had any problems.

i got an ebay special, the bottom has a pad but the sides dont so i just used some thick two sided 3m adhesive for padding them wrapped the whole thing in electrical tape, have to clean a little sticky goop off the swingarm but i think spools are more trouble than they are worth

the padded stands are fine for occasional maint or even storage, the spools just make it faster and a little more stable

The previous owner had put in spools - screw-on type. They hit the exhaust (I found later) and made a dent. [:@]
However welding them? I lowsided at low speed and the spool bent out of shape bending a little of the hole in the swingarm with it. I wonder how much damage would have been transferred to the swingarm if they were welded to it.

you don't weld the spools into the swingarm, Pit-Bull sells a tab thats welded to the bottom of the swingarm with a threaded hole, the bolt for the spool will break off long before that tab does (trust me on this, i know lol)

Holy crap? How in the world are they mounted that the spool hits the exhaust???? I did the pitbull solution with drilling in to the swing arm and the rivnuts. Works great, much more stable. I just went out and put my entire 180 pounds hanging on the back end and bounced it. I can't get the spool even close the exhaust. I have Yosh TRS by the way. Are they being installed in the right position??
