How difficult would it be to install spools on my bike? I just ordered universal T-rex stands from T-rex, but they can swapped to work for spooled bikes as well.

So it doesn't really make a difference for me but I mean I could just drill 2 holes and thread them for the spools right?

Buy ALUMINUM pitbull spool adapters, weld them onto the swingarm, affix the spools onto the adapter and VOILA!

 

If you already have spools: great.
If you don't have spools: get a regular swingarm stand. They work just as well as long as your not retarded
DIY Rear spools without swing arm drilling/welding: a good thought, but keep in mind you cannot remove the rear wheel, which defeats the purpose of a rear stand.

If you have universal swingarm stands then you'll be fine.

 

Yuppers, what they've said. If you don't weld the adapters, can't pull the wheel.


It's almost break even to just buy the accessory main stand and always have one handy. But even that's tricky with an after-market exhaust header installed.

A swing-arm stand with the universal pick-ups works pretty darn good for most jobs. If you need more than that get a hydralic lift, with the money you would need for the spool mod, instead.

Well if you're a welder, go for it! Then it's easy-peasy. Get the adapters (they're just fancy nuts, basically), weld them to the swing-arm and bolt on the spools. It IS the way to go with a rear-stand, more secure than universal pick-ups.

I've been thinking about addressing my hole in the skill-set (i.e. learning to weld), but not being able to sometimes skews my mind-set. (Hence my earlier comments.)

I am a certified pipe welder and I still decided to get the kit from pitbull that only requires drilling the swing arm. The kit comes with instructions telling you where to drill the F4i swing arm. It is also very strong and durable, I keep my bike on a rear stand at home every night.

Use the PitBull drill only kit. Know many that used them on track bikes and they work great.
