Specific Battery Problems....going dead, help.
ok so i have been having dead battery problems per a previous thread, it keeps going dead even after say an hour of riding, i stall the engine.....go to hit the starter......churn churn click click click nothing. flat again. after a full charge 1 day later after just sitting, its dead. i ran a battery tester on it here at work, i didnt know the CCA so i put 150 as the baseline.....tested it, it came back at 183 CCA and that the battery was GOOD. so i said hmmm, let me try to start it.....turned key on hit the starter, churn churn click click click dead. so i retest it, it now says its got 27 CCA and that its no good. i put the charger on it on 2A for maybe 1 minute and thing hmm, let me just test it one more time.......it says its got 153 CCA after just 1 minute of charging....thats impossible. so what im wondering is....
1. what is the rating on the factory battery?
2. is there any likely things that may run the battery down? (clock)
3. is it likely the battery is toast?
4. any instances of there being a loose connection to the starter or battery on the F4i?
5. F4i noted for anything else happening that may cause this?
this is a 2006 F4i with 1,400 miles and does not sit around much either, driven almost daily.

Is your alternator charging the battery? With the bike on, check if the battery voltage is ~14V
Is there a short in your wiring somewhere? That can drain a good battery too.
Batteries are finicky and can go bad... get a gel battery next time.
I'm sorry I dont know what 'CCA' stands for

CCA stands for Cold Cranking amps.....just like a car battery usually has a 650 CCA battery or 750 CCA. i guess im gonna go to the dealership tomorrow and they are gonna look at it.
i bet your stator and electrics are all fine. i'm guessin its your battery goin south. good luck

id rather it be the battery....thats a 5 minute, drop a new one in fix......and they said even a battery would be covered under warranty.
1. Approx 190 CCA.

Smells like the battery is giving up....that or she just doesn't get ridden long enough to get her battery peaked.
For example, stop and go traffic, riding around in the low RPMs etc.

thats not teh case with me....its a 30 mins ride to work, almost evey day....usually at 60-65mph and not alot of traffic....and the bike doesnt sit very much. a day at the most...i charged it fully one night and 36 hours later it was dead.
the latest.......
i charged the battery all day to a full charge......tested it, tester said battery was OK 180CCA......started the bike....first time ok.......shut off......second time ok.......shut off......third time DEAD.....it went from OK and 2 starts flattened it. tested it again....said battery was no good 27CCA.
i am proud of my dealer though, i told him i wanted to come up for a new one, he gave me the story....and said he needed enough time to do a full prep charge first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! good man eh?
