Default smoke after washing an 01

So this morning I went to clean and lube the chain. After I was done, I decided to wash the bike. And I don't go pressure washer on it. Its a slow steady stream that I pre_rinse, wash then rinse. I pull the bike into the street put it on a rear tire stand nd pre_rinse the tank. Water goes down the tank into the engine somewhere nd I see smoke or steam coming out of the fairings. I never once turned the engine on, so it can't be hot. Possibly an electrical wire exposed or something? Any ideas?

Was the key turned? If it wasn't, no electricity would be flowing through the bike so I'd assume it wouldn't be an exposed wire. How long had the bike been off before washing it?

I didn't have the key in at all. The engine was on last night at 5pm. Nd hasn't been on til after I washed it. Today at 10:30ish. So just over 14hrs lol
guess ill take the fairing off, wash it nd see where the water hits a wire. Prolly my best bet

Not a nitrous purge. Haha. Like a hot cup of coffee. Maybe 2 cups of coffee.

How soon after the contact begins does the steam form? Looking at it from a physics perspective, there's no way an exposed wire can put out enough energy to raise that much water to 212 degrees then add all the additional energy to boil it, I feel like there has to be something in your bike that just isn't cooling off for some reason.

How warm was the asphalt? Could it have been the street steaming up? Sometimes after a light rain, the street will "steam" a little.

Yea, there has to be something not cooling down, but what. It was off for 14 hrs. Hopefully it isn't serious. I really need to find it to prevent further damage.

Also here in AZ, the temperature was maybe hitting 55 degrees. So I don't think it was the asphalt. Could b a possibility tho.

Feel around the bike to see if anywhere is warm. The only thing I can think of is the stator cover, but I don't think it would stay hot enough that long to cause steam to be produced from cold hose water.

If the bike is off overnight and if something is still warm/hot, get to the checking because something is not normal.
