Default Show us your idea's for cheap tank grips!

So I was thinking with all our minds together we could probably figure out a cheaper solution to these tank grips. What are your idea's or what have you done?

Example:
HONDA CBR600F4i 01-06 GAS TANK TRACTION GRIP PAD BLACK | eBay

I bought a pack (10) of grip strips for $6 at ace hardware and I have had the same two on the bike and it works great. You want to make sure whichever ones you buy are rubberized and not the gritty type (basically whichever has the lowest amount of grip), otherwise you will tear up your clothing. That being said they don't tear up my clothes and it's not bad for short rides with shorts either. I was fortunate that the grey matches pretty good with my color scheme, but I'm sure you could use black or paint the strips to match.

Anybody use the ones from Tech Spec USA? The cost (though not cheap) didn't seem overpriced and I have read good things on other forums about them.

I've got some basket-weave vinyl that I'm saving for the new paint job.
More interested in protecting the tank than eeking that last edge of rubber, though.
