The cbr 1000 needs new fairings mirrors cosmetic stuff the chain has some rust the bike has 7000 miles....... The 600 needs nothing has 46000 miles..... Is that something to stay away from?

Sounds like a bit of a toss up. The mileage on the 600RR is getting a bit high, which could potentially mean some more hefty repairs sooner than later. Perhaps not if the PO has kept every thing up to par, as a lot of Honda bike engines are very strong and reliable..the VFR is known to reach well over 100k without concern, and I believe the same goes for the CBR if everything has been taken care of.

I can imagine the 1000RR to be very tempting, especially at that price. Sounds like the bike has likely sat most of it's life if it only has 7k on it, plus probably crashed if it needs new fairings and mirrors..who knows what else is buggered on it. If you go litre definitely see about taking it to a shop first or, having some one mechanically inclined look at it if you're not familiar with such yourself.

The F4i sounds worth considering too, newest and lowest mileage out of the three. A new chain and rear sprocket isn't much to be concerned about, fork seals are an inevitable job on any bike of course.

This is a tough decision indeed. I'd heavily consider the Blade though, if it was taken care of ie: regular maintenance, and stored correctly (no rust on the inside of the tank) and what not, that may be your best bet.
While the mileage and it sitting could be a concern, in 2011 I picked up a '03 Shadow Spirit 750 with only 7k KM so about 3400 miles on the clock and, it turned out to be just fine mechanically.

It's not a tough decision because those aren't the only two bikes available for sale on the planet. Wait for something worth the money. If you have reservations about either, then they aren't worth it. Be a little patient and you could probably find a 2008+ 600RR or <= 2007 1000RR with less than 20k for only a little bit more money. It's a great time to buy right now anyway since it's winter.

46,000 it's going to need something .... there is no getting around it if it be general man, or a hidden issue

7000 miles on a 1000 i would take that in a heart beat... fairings chain mirrors all simple fixes....

order a chain for 80.00 bucks and get a set of cheep mirrors and get rolling...
get fairings later.... you could really gain on the 1000... could be a worthy turn around investment also.. i have seen them selling for double that....which could also be a concern...

take the 1000rr to the dealer or have the seller meet you there have it looked over by a mechanic tell the owner that if the check up goes right you will take it... you choose the shop...schedule the appointment... and tell them why you are doing it.. get there before the seller...

and if he shows for one that is a positive sign... do the ticket under your name..... little bit of a hassle but you will know what you are getting into....

i don't care what anyone says i don't trust anyone when it comes to spending hard earned money

I think I would be patient and see what other options are out there. But for the 2,500-3,000 price range most likely all the bikes you look at will have issues. You could probably find a really clean F4i,929,954 in those ranges though. The new RR's look sweet with lots of power but man the F4i, 929, and 954 sure are comfortable. I picked up a mint 929 with 5,000 miles for $2,900 last year so good deals on really nice bikes do exist don't be afraid to travel.

Meh. As long as you're happy. It's missing the bottom fairings.
