Default shifting and oil

Two questions for the gurus. First, what is the best oil for the F4i? Varied opinions welcome. Second, do you use the clutch when shifting from second thru 6th. In my dirt bike days we only used the clutch to start and stop.

for the second question, yes, you kinda have to, mine wont shift without the clutch unless i kick it incredibly too hard. but u could try it
for the first question be ready u wont get a def answer. run what u like there is no BEST oil, i run yamalube mineral oil and i like it alot, others run rotella-t, others gn4, others mobil 1
the best answer for the first question is what is YOUR favorite oil to use that comes in 10W40 wt?

Rotella T 5W-40. As for shifting without the clutch, you can. You need only modulate the throttle (blip it) and it'll drop in (either up or down shifting).
Some fellas like to shift without the clutch, I use it all the time, unless I have my hand off the bar.

I like using Royal Purple. They have some that is formulated for motorcycles and it does not have the anti-friction additives in it. Its kinda expensive (like 9-10 bucks per qt.) but you can buy it at Pep Boys.

I just did an amsoil for $45 too. I noticed smoother shifting, but not as smooth as I'd like it to be.
