Sad day: Selling my F4i
Hey everyone,
Just bought a truck and I'm selling my first baby.
My question is how have you guys gone about letting people test ride the bike?
It's still insured under my insurance, but it doesn't cover damage by the rider.
My ideas are ...
- They must have valid motorcycle license
- Proof of insurance
- They will sign a contract that I will make up, regarding damage to the bike or anything they hit
What have you done in the past and what other advice could you give me, Thanks.
BTW I will return one day, and a Honda is my first choice.

Ahhh I'm planning to upgrade to an RR soon. The other thread asking about the price and this is like a sign for me to sell. =/
Just do what everyone's saying. Have cash in hand and let her go. M1 is a must. It would be hard for them to have proof of insurance because that would just be too complicated.
How much are you selling her for?

Test-rides are a tricky business. YOU set the terms & stick to them. If they don't like it, they can shop elsewhere. Recommendations...
* As mentioned, get their cash in your hand.
* Have them sign a Bill of Sale. Forget that other "contract" stuff you mentioned. Simply have them sign a BOS w/ all their info on it, that you'll pull from their license (obviously, verify they have their M1). A BOS is a legal document on its own. Explain to them that if they damage it in *any* way, they've bought it...no excuses. This process instills in them a more careful attitude. Tell them after they come back w/ the bike in the same condition it left, you'll tear it up.
Lastly, sorry you're giving it up. Good luck.

Who in their right mind would sign a bill of sale before they are sure they want to buy the bike? That is the dumbest thing I've heard. Get the cash in your hand and their license, thats it. Even if they have insurance it might as well be used as toilet paper because they arent insured on your bike.
