Changed the plugs a couple days ago and it was the first time I've had my f4i apart since I've owned her and I'm curious what the hell are the little rubber pads for that hang off the sides of the airbox?

 

I think they might dampen vibration for the wires and tubes underneath the airbox and around the frame there. They may also prevent large amounts of water from dripping down in there and getting where it shouldn't be. I was confused when I first had my bike apart as to what they were as well.
