Default Riding boot question

Hello everyone.

I have a question about riding boots in terms of safety and comfort.

Now, I know that safety comes first and I am all for that. But, on a lot of my riding days to come, I will be riding to school where I have classes all day on some days and I wonder what is you riding boot and how comfortable are they in terms of walking around in them all day? Also, what would be your recommendation (if different from your own) for safety/comfort?

I can't always take a second pair of shoes/sneakers because I have my books.

I am mainly just looking for a pair of boots that are safe to ride in (in terms of ankle/heel and general protection) and comfortable to walk around in on days that I have to all day.

Thanks for your help and answers as you all have already been very helpful.

I can't really help you out with your question, but I"m sure there isn't a boot that is safe and comfortable to walk around in. Why not just tie your shoes together and loop them through a strap or something on your backpack. Or get a cargo net and put them on the passenger seat. That would also save you money?

I think that it depends on your budget to some degree. I just happen to have aMotosport catalog in front of me. TheTeknic Freestyle and Icon Field Armor Chukka looks comfy, but they are spendy. I think theimportant thing is to protect your feet and ankles. A nice pair of work boots from Wal*mart should be a vast improvement over tennies, and should save you some money.

Police boots or desert army boots. They`re a mix between sneakers and boots. Lightweight and comfortablebutprotective. You`ll forget they`re there.

My budget is around 150.00 - 165.00. I already have the AVG Sebring 2 Sport boots located here:

http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...g-2-Boots.aspx

They are okay when it comes to comfort, but I find my self walking with my knees bent a little bit as they go to my calf and they are really meant to be used while riding a bike.

I`ll check those police boots out.

EDIT:

I like the Chukka boots a lot. I just didn`t know if they were too short to provide ample ankle support. Are they really comfy?

Incognito, where can I find those police boots or desert army boots?

Thanks.

^ online or army surplus store. Isn't the point of riding boots to provide ankle protection? as in a armor type protection, to stop your ankle from shattering/braking?

Good protective over the ankle boots are never really fun to walk in, that's the point they immobilize your ankles so they don't get busted up in a crash. You can get a good pair in the price range you are aiming at. There are some boots out there that are easier to walk in than others from past threads I have read (what they are I can't recall, some might even be workable for you.).

I would stay away from the Chukka's or any boot that has laces. Laces and motorcylces is a really BAD combination, cause laces get caught on things (ie. your shifter), and will create havoc.

Like p4eAaLcLesaid. Also if you look locally for a "uniform supply" store (ems/fire/police) you`ll find them.

avoid laces if you can... they tend to get caught up in stuff
