Default Resonator Chamber?

Would it hurt the bike if I removed the resonator chamberfrom the air duct and plugged the whole it leaves behind? I am reading up on the internet and finding information for cars. The resonator dampens the air intake noise. Would this also go for motorcycles too?

If you want someone to guess...I say nothing bad can happen. Those chambers stop a booming sound from happening in an airway. Unless there are standing waves that are createdthat stop the ramming effect of air at speed. Given everything is plastic and has some type of give (unlike carbon fiber) these waves probably won't form and the only prblem you will have is noise from resonance, but airflow should be fine.

The flip side is, why would Honda spend money on these little things and engineer them in this way if they weren't really needed. I mean, why have a noisy CCT but spend money to make the intake quiet? I don't buy the noise standard arguement, but who knows.

Unless you monitor the resulting exhaust gasses at speed will you be able to know the real answer, static dyno tests wont matter. It is the ram air effect and the resulting wave front formation that may matter. But my guess is it isn't gonna hurt performance one little bit.

Adjust your shifter position, Change your clipon angle, work on your suspension tuning, clean and gap your spark plugs, blead your brakes. Why waste an hour on stupidity thats going to do nothing for you, your bike, or your riding?
