Default Rear shock linkage bolt torque

Hi guys.

I have to replace the lower bolt on the rear shock linkage as the threads are stripped on it.

The nut on it is self locking so I assume the torque setting won't be that high.

Many thanks!

Just to note - it's number 12 in the illustration.

Sorry - moderators - could you move this thread to the F4i section?

Its in the main F4i section. Hopefully someone comes along with info from the manual. Those bolts and nuts are usually really tight. They're the only thing holding the rear of your bike up, that's why they're self locking. The bushing and bearing keep the link from binding

everything holding the rear shock and its linkage on is also 33 ft-lbs.

since you're hanging the rear of the bike to do the job, it's a good time to service that assembly while you're there; i recommend disassembling the entire rear shock link and lower so you can clean and re-grease all of the needle bearings, and re-torque everything. it'll only take a few extra minutes.

edit: if you pm me i'd be happy to email you the entire rear end service manual section...

What kind of grease do you recommend?

it's just a low speed needle bearing; any thick grease will do...
