rear brake pad pin
hey guys, this might seem like a dumb question, but i cant figure out how to take out the pin that holds the rear pads to the caliper. are you just supposed to bang it out? or is there something special you have to do?
IIRC, there is a bolt or allen head on that thing? You may need to use some brake parts cleaner or PB Blaster to get her loose. I know that mine was kinda stuck the other day too. I didn't need to remove it, so I left it alone.
I have never seen a OEM flathead fastener on my motorcycles. It may come out like that, but I dont think they would use a flathead on something you need to remove to service the brakes when their isnt one in the toolkit. It would make much more sense to use an allen bolt.
The flat head is the outer screw, then you need a allen wrench to get main pin bolt out. When I change rear brakes last month I thought I broke bolt at first. I think the outer screw is supposed to be snugged down "hand tight". That keeps inner one from virating loose.
