So I am looking to purchase a2002 Honda CBR F4i from a dude that lives about 20 mins away. http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/m...808153705.htmlhere is the ad. I drove it yesterday, and to me everything seemed ok. This is going to be my first bike.I was wonderingif any of you bike veteranowners if there is anything I should know before I go ahead and purchase the bike. Any help would be much appreciated.

Well for one, thats some pretty low miles for a 02... For two; its been repainted, which means its probably been down And or in a accident. If you have any friends that have bikes, i would take them with you to see the bike again before you give him 3500 for it. I think the KBB on 02 are $4700, perfect condition/low miles.. i wouldn't pay that much for it. Although you do get the power comander! offer him a lower amount and see what he does

DC huh? I woulda figured we were neighbors by your name .

IDK, bike doesn't look too great to me. Cheap flat black paint, missing mirrors, and some annoyingly loudexhaust IMO. I'd be curious how hard it went down

I tried to haggle with him but he was pretty firm on 3,300. Yes the bike has been down as you can see in one of the pictures. I don't care if the bike as been down really as long as the frame is good to go. Thanks again for the advice

Something is def wrong with it.......thats a real low price for that millage. Ive seen 02's with 13000 go for more than that.

Well, I took one of my bike friends to give it a run through. He said it was pretty good. I Nada.com the bike it said the the bike should go anywhere from 3083-4500. So I guess that's why the price is so low. Plus I think alot of people overprice their bikes with after market stuff. IMO take that stuff off and ebay it, sell the bike stock you'll make more money that way.

My only comment is that an F4i may be too much bike for a noob. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't, when it doesn't it can be real bad. If you have some other motorcycle experiencethen you should be OK, but if you've never been on a bike then think twice about a 600cc sportbike.

Good luck and definitely look into the MSF.
