Default questiona bout the high mount exhost?

i have a carbon high mount exhost on my 01 f4i. does this keep me from using side bags from nelson or any side bags for that matter?

the carbon part does not ever get hot, just warm, the metal parts on it get real hot though.

can i just let the side bag rest on the carbon part?

Its recommended that you dont lay the saddlebags on the exhaust. I've got some cortech ones and i think they want them like 1/2" away from the pipe. Mine have a heat shield on the bottom too, but like I said, its not recommended to be resting on the pipe.

Exhaust*

As a rule of thumb I would NEVER put anything against any part of the exhaust system. Your muffler will generally never get hot to the touch, but your mid pipe will be scorching and instantly burn you or anything that touches it. Just keep anything off of the pipe, better safe than sorry.

You can have the mid pipe coated by a header company or if your really cheap use the header wrap then you won't feel much heat and bags should be fine.

what if i use exhost wrap or something just temperarly while the bag is on, then un wrap it when im not using it. honestly the pipe does not get hot at all. i can ride for a long time and then keep my hand rested on it without burning myself. but any of the metal parts though are very hot.

you should try getting some of the heat wrap at autozone or something and attaching it ot some velcro material so you can take it off and on as you please kinda like a sleeve...if it's not getting that hot to the touch, like your lower pipe then you should be fine for short trips...
