Default Problems again...

I have a 2001 cbr f4i and I've been trying to get it back into runnin condition.. So after fuel pump fuel pressure regulator and a new fuel injector she fired right up. Then the problems came again!!! She idled high for about five minutes at 4 grand and slowly went back down and once it warmed up it idled around a thousand or so. Then my uncle takes it down the road because he's the one used to the bike and said when he gets on the throttle it just Boggs and when he eases into it it will start to bog at 4 thousand...

well the bike does choke itself when its cold, usually around 3krpm then when it warms it should idle about 1.2k
what do you mean it bogs out? and he shouldn't be getting on the throttle at 4krpm he can, but its ******* the engine.
this could be a timing issue, and is there any spliced wire harness or any device laying in the trunk like a power commander?
what kind of bog is it, like, you are running out of gas when you crack the throttle a little bit and it just revs down?
or does it stutter and run better when it winds up to around 6krpm?

He said it was spudderin and if he shifted it pull to 4 to 5 and start spudderin again likes it's gettin too much air or gas or something. I'm changing the plugs tomorrow and running it again and seein what happens how would I check the timing? Use a standard car timing light or what? It has a power commander bit what could be happenin with it? It was running a lil rich

I was about to say you should check the plugs. I had a buddy who use to have a 2001 honda 900 I believe, and his bike would bog down when he rode. He ended up changing his plugs and then the bike ran fine.

i believe the timing is done thru the computer. i dont think it's something you can mess with. If the new plugs dont work. take out the commander. lastly, check the compression.

timing is done by looking at the valves, the computer can advance or retard the sparks a little, but the CCT could of been loose and jumped a tooth.
it does sound like plugs/ignition system or fuel delivery though, i always go for the worse case, im such a pessimistic.
indeed, check your plugs check for spark if you get a wild hair up your ***, and,or put in a default map in the power commander or remove it temporary.

So I finally got to work on it today changed the plugs oil and anti freeze and cleaned it up and uncle took it down the road and it ran like a champ it has a lil bit of studder a lower rpm when pullin but he hit 160 on it and said it had more what's the top speed? It has m4 pipe powercommander 3 and I don't know what else and 135 pound driver?

And also I don't know what the tune is in it either I dont know how to change it or anything! I wish I did I really wanna learn this bike in and out. I need some tires and stuff just to be able to ride it around good but I'm broke college student haha.

So the bike needs tires and it was being ridden at '160'mph?

i think the top speed is around 160 and if it makes it to that it shouldn't have any more. you may want to count the teeth on the sprockets.
as for changing the map which it seems it was just the spark plugs fouling you up. you download the power commander software from their site.
if its not a PC3 USB then you will need a serial port i think on your computer, which sucks because you are also missing other features the pciii usb has.
http://www.powercommander.com/downlo...eng108-411.pdf
thats the installation instructions just so you know where it is on your bike.
im also interested on why an engine can bog down at low rpms, if i put my truck in 5th gear at 30mph, which it can travel in with barely any throttle,
and gun it, im fairly sure it would shake the whole truck loose.
anyways 16 teeth in the front, its easy to remove the cover just 2 bolts, and 42 teeth on the rear sprocket. or you can also do this to verify your speed.
Gearing Commander: Motorcycle Speed, RPM, Chain & Sprockets Calculator
select your bike at the top and somewhere down the page it will tell you at what rpms is what speed you will be traveling at with stock sprockets
for example if your bike isnt going 50 at about 4krpm in 6th gear then you have diff sprockets and or may need a speedo healer.
