Default ppl with vortex sliders please read

I just bought vortex sliders for my bike of craigslist for 30 bucks...stil in packaging..sweat deal right?

so I popped out my old grinded down sliders and installed the vortex bases and pucks...I finished and I'm staring at it and the right slider comes out farther than the left...I took it back out to see if I accidentally cross threaded but all seems fine..

I"m going crazy cause I can't correct this imbalance...Anyone have this problem?

It is supposed to be like that. I just did mine too and the right is further out than the left.

I thought I was going nuts.. I took them off and put them back on like 3 times trying to correct it.
Why are they designed like that?

well i just installed mine a mouth ago and my best guess was because the right fairing has a little extra bump so to protect it it needs to be longer...

That would make sense, but the frame sliders aren't designed to save your fairings hence the term "frame" sliders

yeah, frame sliders are like that. when I originally got my first set of frame sliders from vortex, they were shorty puck sliders, and i didn't know that they were used for race tracks. so i ordered the original sized pucks from vortex and changed them. now they're a bit longer...but all of us with frame sliders, let's hope we never have to put them to use

Take a look at the stock engine mount bolt you replace with the Vortex bolt and notice the threads- the Vortex bolt has a much longer threaded area. For some reason, this not only causes the slider to stick out further, but the base actually sits a few millimeters off of the frame on my '05.

A quick note about the install- just did mine a couple days ago, and I must say that the play dough/silly putty/sticky tack method is definitely superior. It took me all of 45 min to get both sets cut and installed using this method.
