power commander? 2001 F4i? sup?
My bruthuh from anothuh muthuh just bough an 03 R6.... and it pulls away from me... just a bit, but it's not cool.
|
soooooo...
what i'm saying is, i'd like some sympathy! lol, or someone to tell me they waxed an R6 or 636 lately with thier f4i! lol, it's not a big deal, i'd still rather have my bike, but does power comander help a lot? worth the money?
Ride safe yall, and don't take no ****e |
A power commander only gives you a gain on HP and Torque if you have some modifications done to your bike. Example: Air Intake and Exhaust. Also with a power commander it is highly recommended to get it tuned by a professional, this way the power commander has a custom map just for your bike. If you don't have any mods on you bike you will only see little to no gain from the power commander alone.

I got the PC III USB and using a map I downloaded from their website. It's nice hooking up your laptop and look at the charts and engine parameters as you rev your engine...the silly things that make me smile. Anyhow, back to your question.
For improved acceleration you're talking exhaust, sprockets, and PC III for sure. The jury isn't out yet on the air filter, that's up to you. The gain in performance is perhaps marginal on the induction system when we talk about dropping in a K&N. |
What he said ^
Sprockets will help you keep up more anything when it comes to pure acceleration |
dont mean to thread jack but, i have a k&n filter, yosh slip, and +2 rear sprocket...would adding a power commander drastically change anything performance wise?
|
No.
|
Uhm...YES!.
Since I have an exhaust, PC III USB, and an air filter. Here's my take... the PC III USB isn't exactly cheap, but we're talking bikes, so is there anything cheap...no. Anyhow, when you add the PC III, right off the bat you're gonna notice smoothness throughout the power band, and an improvement to throttle response. I've gone PC III USB, and I won't go back. Moving from a stock setup, will require some retuning for optimal performance, and that's where the PC III comes in. |
ya, maybe i should just go on a diet... lol
I have K&n, FMF (loud as f..ck) slip on, flushmounts n all dat, just don't like being pulled away from in ANYTHING I'm driving...lol I know the ecu programmer benefits in cars very well, but don't know much about bike engine management. Sounds like you guys are saying it's more about controling torque curves and efficiency than a quick gain in raw power. Which is kinda the same thing... but that's the same with my stang.
Why is the F4i such a beautifully balanced, eyecatching, SWEET sounding, corner railing, perfect specemin of a bike..... and then they make it just a little under powered in the 6 class?! I would never trade, but it bugs me a little... |
Go up a few teeth on the rear sprocket and you will be happy. going down one tooth on the front sprocket AND up two on the back sprocket is common but I think it is a bit much... just +2 or +3 on the rear sprocket would add a good amount of acceleration without killing your top speed or ruining your fuel mileage.
(ya, losing some of that beer gut would help too :) ) |
if ur looking for a pcIII send Vangill a pm... hes thinking about selling his.... or at least so a little birdy told me.... (im not sure why he is selling it though) :icon_bike:
|
The F4i really is a remarkable machine, now that I own it....if I get that feeling that it's time to upgrade...I may still end up keeping it and just add another bike to the stable.

Learn to ride and you'll smoke him. :)
I've beaten a lot of 600cc-range bikes, and even some faster bikes for the first ~80 mph. And my PCIII isn't tuned. Just waiting until I do get it tuned near the start of this season. |

Moving from a stock setup, will require some retuning for optimal performance, and that's where the PC III comes in. Dont over exaggerate. The guy asked if he bought a PC3 if he would see a "drastic" performance gain. And the simple answer is no. If all you are rockin is a slip-on and an air filter then you truly dont even need a PC3. A K&N filter is basically just a washable OEM filter and most likely worse than OEM when it comes to performance. I've taken my bike to its limits before and after upgrades and we're talking 4mph difference. The only reason I even bought a PC3 is because my pipe has very little back pressure so I didn't want to run too lean. |
this is me before i painted the bike but i was on my 01 f4i it had k&n, rs-3 slip on, pc III, barnetts clutch -1 on front sprocket and i was at 210 lbs then vs my freinds 02 r6 stock filter, LV slip on, not re jetted, barnetts clutch, and -1 +2. his weight was about 160 lbs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JqcwXA2bgs but from a dig i could out lanch him because he its hard to keep the front down it is for me as well but harder for him. now our other friend on the 636 will walk away from us any day of the week its all stock other then the home made slip on. the 636 set the record at the last dyno day at 118 whp we dont know why he is making so much power just lucky! |
I was waiting for someone to diss my riding ability... lol
It always comes back to this... hahaaaaa... Um, ok I suck at riding. the 03 R6 has 120 hp stock. this one is yoshi slip, intake, and supposedly a little less than 360 pounds dry. It will beat an F4i. I still wouldn't trade, but it's a faster bike. Was just pondering the pc3, that's all. doesn't sound like I'll bother, I'll just learn to ride. lol
|
There is one more thing, The 2008 all black cbr 1000rr. is SOOOO effing SICK! I must have it, but I'll never part with my F4i. Together forever... lol
|
Holy squid race video. Who passes a car like that?

Power Commander
1 Attachment(s)
I have a brand new (never taken out of the box) Power Commander USB III (108-411) for a 2001 - 2006 Honda CBR 600 F4i, and a new (never taken out of the box) K&N (HA - 6001) filter for the F4i.
I sold the F4i before installing these parts and went over to the dark side and bought a 2003 CBR 954. $275 for the pair. Let me know if you're interested. Sandy |

Power Commander
I'm offering them as a pair because I can't use the air filter alone and everyone needs to change filters (unless they already have a K&N).
They are priced to sell... $50 less than kneedragger and SBTG and no sales tax, no shipping. Thanks for asking about them. Sandy |

pc3 defnitely did the trick for me, i thought it was necessary with a high flow filter and exhaust change though

How do people find 10 year old threads and bring them back to life?
