Default Please Help

[:@]I have a 03 F4i and it was running really poorly. Changed the FPR, and now it idles at 3,000 when it cold. Then it will get to about 100 degrees, idle down to 1200 then when it get to 170 it shuts off and won't idle. If I raise the idle screw way up it will then it will until its cold. have replaced the map sensor, and now i still have the same stupid problem. But it runs fine, just won't idle. Please help before I burn this thing to the ground.

Have you taken a look at your throttle body to see if they need a cleaning? Mine was acting a bit erratic until i cleaned them with some seafoam.

Yes i have inspected the throttle bodies and they were clean. Actually ran alittle lucas fuel cleaner through it to. It just doesnt make sense. it has to be a sensor somewhere causing this. I don't know if its the TPS or IAT or what. I just hate being a parts changer and not know what the problem is.

how many miles. Mine did that and it was valves. My brother changed every sensor and computer on the bike and couldnt figure it out. I bought and adjusted the valves and its been good for the last 4k but its starting to act up again. It had gone bad about 8k miles so Im sure it had crap seats from the factory.

Actually i have checked the valves and there where in specs, what i don't understand is why it shuts off at exactly 170 everytime. It makes no sense, it idles at 3,000 when cold hits 100 then idles down to 1200 then hits 170 and dies off. Stupid thing

Whats its idling at when you start it and as it warms up? How long does it stay at 1200? Does it continue to decrease when it gets close to 170 degrees?

Isn't there a diagnostic mode for the ECU?

Tried the ecm and I get the code for the MAP Sensor and IAT and I replaced the map with a new honda one. And I dont think the IAT would cause it to do whats it doing. Its just when it hits 170 its falls off, The idle is 1200 intill 170 after it gets to 100 then hits one seventy and the idle gets lower and lower unitil it stalls!!! Its really getting frustating

I think there's a resistance across the sensors that you should get. IIRC when the temp increases so should the resistance. It would be nice if you could swap your ECU to see if that's the culprit. Since the symptoms are repeatable (as you say) then it must be sensor/ ECU related. Have you checked your temp sensor? IIRC when the ECU gets an overheat signal, it shuts down the engine (although I don't think that's your problem, it would be nice to eliminate it).

Wish I had a straight answer for you.

Not sure what IIRC stands for, but what if i just unplug the water temp sesor so it can't tell if the bike is hot or not. But that is a great idea. I will give it a shot on Monday. Thanks i will let you know what I find out
