i had a buddy that carried a flattened soda can in his trunk and put it under the KS when he was worried about soft asphalt.. personally, i pretty much always park on the sidewalk or in shaded areas, so it's less of a concern for me..

You would have to be parked for quite some time to have the asphalt give way. Most of the time it will only compress .5" and your bike will still be fine.

I think the only place I wouldn't do it is in Death Valley or the next worst place...Phoenix.

New asphalt in FL can get squishy. I keep a thick plastic disc in my tankbag. I never used it yet.

new ashpalt is notorius for sinking the kickstand, I came out of my gym one day, 90+ and it was sinking. I try to put it on a white painted line, it helps, but its still not the best.

I have seen alot of cruisers suffer from this, becuase they are so heavy, more than one actually tipped. They sell round rubber pads to help, check the local cruiser store, they will have some.

I liberated a hard coaster from some bar somewhere, the name has long since worn off, but the puck is still solid.

i made a KS plate at work out of two pieces of scrap 22ga metal. i made it 4"x4", painted it white and splashed some red over it. then i put like 5 coats of clear on it, lol. i like it alot, for a KS plate. when it gets really hot out, i've got a plate to match my bike.

you guys mean it's not little fairies that heat up the asphalt to make it soft, giving way to the bike?

soda can, flat plastic pieces, etc...all great ideas.

i havea cycle foot its just a plastic foot shaped thing i got at the dealer for a 1.50 that goes under the kick stand and it thin and tuff. i lost one so i tied a string to it and then put the other end under the back seat then i just roll the string up around it and toss it in the trunk which seems to be shrinking
