My '04 F4i front turn signals have 3 wires. Two for blinking and one for running lights. I bought the exact ones you saw on eBay without researching this problem. The ones on eBay only have two wires. They fit okay (had to modify the plastic retaining nuts a little) but won't function as running lights.

Went with the protons. Outstanding!

I have those on my F4i, but in the smoked version. They look fine. Not crazy bright, but not dim, either. Pretty normal for an amber LED. A bit harder to see from the front, but I don't mind.

Personally, I don't like flush mounts. They are far to difficult to see in the day IMO. I had some on my bike that I just bought and I got rid of them.
