Default ommon f4i front brake problem??

dont know if there was already a thread about this, didnt see one but yeah. So i have a few buddies that have told me they have the same problem.....no matter how much you bleed the front brake, the front brake lever is always inconsistently spongy at times and nice and tight during other times.
Granted i know f4i brakes are sh*t but theres something about a sh*tty seal or something that always sucks on f4i's??

Cant say that I have even heard of that.....the brakes are actually pretty good tobe honest.
If they are feeling spongy then U might want to try bleeding the brake fluid and putting some new fluid in there.U would be surprised how that makes a difference in the feel from the lever.
Could be that the lines are getting soft too.
What year is your F4i and how many miles are on it?

my f4i is an '01 with about 18xxx miles on it. I understand the gravity of the affect that bleeding has on brakes, and i have bled my brakes, over and over. Something about a seal in the front master cylinder that goes bad on f4i's sometimes, maybe from old fluid sitting in it deteriorating the seal maybe?? Doesnt happen on all of them, but several buddies with f4i's have the same problem.

i have an '01 as well, with ~25000 mi. while the brakes will stop the bike i feel like the brakes on my '09 250r are better as far as initial bite and lever feel.

i am taking it to colorado in july so in preparation i will be replacing the fluid front and rear as well as pads and bleeding them. i'll report back when i get it done, i'm sure it will help lever feel.

Im experienced this as well... Ive flushed fluids and still it can get spongy. But I bleed at the calipers. You really think bleeding at the master is better? I may give that a try!

I've never had a problem with my 40,000 mile f4i and I never had one come into the shop for front brake problems when I worked at the dealership. I also don't know anyone with problems. The master cylinder is not the strongest but it works fine. The stock lever will have different pressure feelings when you put it in different positions.
